Name a Fundraising Chairperson
- Consider the following criteria:
- Reliability
- Available time
- Organizational skills
- Popularity/Personality
- Commitment to cause
Gather a Committee
- Select one adult per ten children
- List members and phone numbers
- Make one person responsible for all of the money!
Select a quality product such as the "OUCHPACK"
- Decide "When" & "How" to sell your items
- Select a start date - Monday or Friday (no holidays)
Ask the following questions when you contact us
- "What will our profit be?"
- Do you deliver?
- Do you provide samples?
- When do we have to pay?
Communicate with your Organization
- Printed Fliers
- Radio or TV announcements
- Local business to supply incentive prizes
- Community newspaper
- Upcoming meetings

When You Need More Product

Collect The Money
- Make one person responsible for all of the group's money
- What is the deadline?
- What if the money doesn't arrive?
What Should the School Do When it First Receives the "Ouch Pack" Program?
- Open and verify the amount of large bags of 15 "Ouch Packs"
- Photocopy home room guides for each teacher
- Customize parent instruction sheet to fit your schools philosophy and photocopy or print enough copies to be handed out to the parents of each student
- Distribute one resealable bag (containing 15 Ouch Packs) to each child
How Many Days Should This Program Run For ?
The program should run approximately 24 days which can be broken down as follows:
- Allow 5 days for set up, copying letters and instructions, distribution of "Ouch Packs".
- Allow 2 weeks to run the program i.e.. Parents to sell "Ouch Packs" and return the money and unsold "Ouch Packs" to the school.
- Redistribute unsold "Ouch Packs" to those who can sell more.
- After 5 days follow-up, gather all money from classroom teachers.
Should The Children Go Door to Door Selling "OUCH PACKs" ?NO! The parents of the children should supervise and be directly involved in this program.
How Does Our School Ensure Success?
- Teaching of Safety Awareness should be a cooperative approach of school, family and community.
- Ensure maximum visibility of the "Ouch Pack" Program through articles in local and school papers, radio, letters and bulletins.
- Make a large school "Ouch Pack" thermometer graph, hang it in a prominent place and update it daily with homeroom teacher feedback.
- approach local business owners and store managers to donate prizes for the students or class who sell the most "Ouch Packs". Mention that you will thank them in letters to parents, signs etc.
MOTIVATE ! MOTIVATE ! MOTIVATE !
- Motivate teachers to make this program fun and effective.
- Motivate students to be creative.
- Motivate parents to actively participate. Encourage them to return all money raised or unsold "Ouch Packs" as soon as possible, so that unsold "Ouch Packs" may be redistributed to those who wish to sell more.
FOLLOW UP ! FOLLOW UP ! FOLLOW UP !
- Follow up with teachers daily to collect the money. Do not leave money in classrooms.
- Follow up with children to encourage their parents to participate.
- Follow up with parents by encouraging them with a letter after the first week advising them of progress. Request that they return money or unsold "Ouch Packs" as soon as possible.
